The Film Reel on Toronto Film Scene – June 29, 2012

Summer is set to officially begin around here. The kids are done school today, and the weather is heating up, enough so that I can hit the pool in the afternoon. The best way to really keep cool this weekend is to head to the theatre. Luckily for you guys, The Film Reel has two articles up at Toronto Film Scene to help you choose. First up is an article for Jaws, screening at TIFF Bell Lightbox, and finally, a review for the film Town Of Runners. Check it out.

YOU’RE GONNA NEED A BIGGER THEATRE

That giant shark that terrified audiences in 1975 is swimming back into the theatre this weekend as Jaws screens at TIFF Bell Lightbox. A review isn’t really necessary so The Film Reel has an article posted at Toronto Film Scene on a few reasons why Jaws changed the way that the cinema worked, and why it’s such a fantastic film. You can check out the full article on the Toronto Film Scene website.

TOWN OF RUNNERS

Great documentary about Bekoji, a small town in Ethiopia that has produced quite a few famous distance runners. The film follows two young girls and a young boy as they train with hopes of Olympic glory. Options are very limited in Bekoji, and running is one of the best ways to leave the small village behind. Check out the full review at the Toronto Film Scene website.
