Dad at the Movies – Mar. 12th, 2012

Monday was apparently work day. It must have been some sort of punishment for my being lazy the day before. Although, I guess if any day should involve work, it might as well be Monday. Garfield hates it, and most people hate it, but Monday is usually very good to me. Normally it would be the first day that the kids head back to school after running around the house all weekend. Too bad that March Break started yesterday.

My entire day consisted of watching movies, and then writing about them. I wrote four or five posts and watched two movies. Honestly, I’m not even sure how I found the time in the day to pull it off. I managed to do all of that with both kids at home and my girlfriend terribly, terribly sick. I’ve got her chained in the bedroom now, so she doesn’t infect the rest of the house with whatever strange disease she’s carrying. I hate being sick so I’m trying to keep my distance from her. I also don’t want two sick kids during March Break.

My morning was a bit slow as I just shuffled around, lazily picking the odd piece of garbage up before I finally pulled it together enough to do a load of laundry. This carried me until lunchtime. After the kids had eaten, they both wandered off to play on the computer so I figured it was time to get down to watching a movie.

When I had realized that Silent House was a remake, I thought it would be a good time to bring Remake Monday back. That was always fun to do, the comparison of an original film and its remake, but I had forgotten how much work it was. I watched The Silent House, which took me hours because I kept nodding off, and sat down to start writing reviews.

It took me quite a bit of time to finally get my reviews finished. Of course, I had to get the kids fed right in the middle of it all so that didn’t help. Just before I was done, a message came in from Toronto Film Scene. They needed a review, and quick, and I was ready for it. I’m glad I did because the film was incredible. I’ll have it posted up any moment and it’s one of the better films I’ve seen in a long time, at least documentary wise.

Watching that and writing the review took me until the wee hours of the night. Everyone else was already in bed, and I was tired of staring at screens for the day. I’m still a bit tired of staring at screens right now, but how could I miss a day on The Film Reel.
