Sunday. Normally the word alone will force my brain to shut down. There’s just nothing to do on a Sunday. That’s only made worse by the fact that March Break starts on Monday. Thankfully, Sunday happens to be the day that Walking Dead is on TV, but even that will be over soon. That meant I had to take full advantage of a good Sunday while it’s still around.
The kids got up pretty late. I guess the time change is still throwing them off. It may be best that it happens just before March Break because I can’t imagine waking them up at 7:30 am to go to school right now. I took the quiet morning as my chance to play some uninterrupted Skyrim. I actually had a busy Sunday ahead, so I wanted to get a bit of video games in first.
Once the kids finally stumbled out of bed, I fed their faces and sent them on their way. It was absolutely gorgeous outside and both kids wound up playing with some friends in the front yard. I can’t remember the last time they did that, and it was nice to know that they weren’t sitting in front of the computer all day. It didn’t last long though, because we had things to do.
A couple of relatives were visiting my parents, so we swung by to say hello. We had a delicious lunch, which I had to steal to bring home for my sick girlfriend, and relaxed a bit before the kids went to their mother’s house. I had planned on swinging by an EB so I could trade a few games in and get Mass Effect, but I was running out of time. I wanted to get in to see Silent House and it started at 3 pm. It was after 2 pm by the time I left my parents house, so I had to put off my trip to EB until another day.
My girlfriend was too sick to join me at the movies, which probably didn’t matter because Silent House didn’t exactly blow me away. Of course, I was in such a rush to get to the movie and it was all for nothing. I’m sure I watched 20 minutes of commercials before the flick actually started. Not the best trip to the movies, but at least I got to see the film when I wanted to.
It was simply a waiting game after that. I had to kill a few hours before Walking Dead came on. The kids always complain if I want to watch it at 9 pm. They are still worried that it’s going to be too scary for them. I told them I wasn’t waiting until 11 pm to watch, so they were just going to have to suck it up. Wouldn’t you know that they were both glued to the screen by the end. Now they can’t wait to watch it next week when all the zombies finally show up at the farm.
Once the show finished, I sent the kids off to bed and got down to writing. That’s the other reason I wanted to watch at 9 pm. I knew I could get it reviewed before I went to sleep. It took me a little bit because I got sucked into watching Comic Book Men, but I managed to get everything wrapped up by midnight. It wasn’t much later that I fell asleep, which is good. I’m going to need lots of rest to keep up with the chores and the kids home all day for a week.
